Let us know in the comments below. Tom is a professional actor on stage and screen and has loved Eurovision since when Katrina and the Waves brought it home for the United Kingdom. He is of Polish heritage and also a Polish folk dance instructor and choreographer.
When Iceland announces their song, they will be number one as well. I think the Roop will do great in televoting a combination of massive diaspora support and genuine support from Europeans who like their new song. The Roop are really great but this years song is just boring.
Weird dance move will not make it a hit anymore. And countires that are in the top not even reavled this year song. Im sorry but its just redundant. They had a great song last year. This year, no its boring, we already see hes hand over his head. And the song its to dark. I hope they go to the final, they should be happy.
Pointless to make an issue of the odds so early in the season…you say it in the first sentence. Only reason Lithuania is top is so that we can all discuss it on various ESC fansites. Early odds are all hype so you check out the gambling sites. Every year we try to overhype songs. Discotheque is ok for a top 10 finish but not top 3 and certainly not a winner.
However on fire was a potential top 3. DONT count your chickens before they hatch because we still have 39 countries to listen to. And no, The Roof is way too dark for Eurovision. On Fire was quirky and uplifting, which made it fresh. Conan Osiris says Hi and also Lena Jamala win was due to a very specific political environment at the time, it was more than just a dark vibe song.
The Roop are getting a lot of hype for no real reason. The majority has still to choose their entries, so…. It wound up 17th out of 19 in semi-final one. Even late odds are wrong. In nobody predicted Norway to win the popular vote or Macedonia to win the jury.
The odds just give the chance of an event happening, as we dont have eurovisions to take a statistical analysis on, the odds cant inherently be wrong or right. Most egregious cases for me were Austria and Netherlands having longer odds than Belgium in , Moldova having very long odds in , and Cyprus being 25th with them pre-rehearsal in I usually follow eurovision build up and national finals enthusiastically but this year its difficult to focus on it.
Same ranking. If you think The Roop will win I suggest you have your bet now as the odds will likely get shorter. Also some countries which are probably overpriced; Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Greece and Romania. I think this year we will get a big fight for the win- I expect a hot competition.
Agree on the hot competition this year — Roop remains a big disappointment, though! No vote from this end! Way too early to make any sense of the odds right now. Judging by this, they are just continuing with last years odds, as the top 3 are returning artists from who where the favorites then too plus Sweden, who is always in the odd top Heat 5.
Semi-final 1. Semi-final 2. Top 3. Did you know It is not allowed to have more than six people on stage including backup singers and dancers. Until Eurovision the limit was three. In Georgia decided to send the song "We Don't Wanna Put In" to the contest in Moscow, but because of a controversy about the lyrics in the song, EBU banned the song from participating, if the lyrics was not changed. Georgia refused to change the lyrics, and withdrew from the contest. In there were four winners!
They all had the same points, and back then there were no rules for a tie. If there's a tie today, the country with points from most countries will win. Follow Eurovisionworld. Eurovisionworld on Facebook. Ireland holds the record of most victories in Eurovision Song Contest: Seven victories!

The contest is decided by casual fans and the juries, theres zero reason the roop need to lose sleep over some 14 yr olds hate comments on twitter. Bets are easly manipulated you guys. We all remember how Bulgaria was first until their song in Akin to Poland when everyone was hyping over Margaret, and Michal ended up winning sending its odds plummeting. The only one in Lithuania with a chance of dethroning The Roop is Gebrasy, especially if he outright wins the jury vote and does fairly well in the televote.
And Malta on the understanding that Ira Losco would win locally with one of two songs neither of which ended up in Stockholm! This is not surprising to me. I actually think it has a mass appeal. I see a lot of people, older especially liking a good old french chanson — afterall Edith Piaf was Europe-wide known and not just in France.
Not especially the older, look at the youtube reactions they are all young people who connect with this song too. Were you happy with the final French result, Esc addict? Disappointing result for Terence. I meant that at esc older people are going to prefer this song over many others because of the nostalgia. Tornike served last year, surprising most of the people positively and I really hope that his new entry will be just as good. Iceland was in the first place until January 22 and then papa Roop overthrew them on January Neither Iceland nor Lithuania did pick a song yet, while Lithuanian selection songs are already known.
So yes, Iceland may rise once again. Or it may flop, just as any other contestant, including Lithuania, but it will depend on the mood in May and the songs which are released. Way too early with just one song and two ongoing selections Lithuania and Norway but I am very happy to see Romania in this top 9. Finally some positive recognition — whatever those odds mean.
We have three songs! France, Israel and Albania. Oops — I was refering to one song France out of the nice countries I saw in the picture with the odds. And to the two ongoing selections. I did not include in my comment the countries whose songs have been released but with no selection shows started per se.
If I remember correctly, Poland was a big favourite to win in the betting odds when everyone thought Margaret would win the NF. Only for the odds to tumble after Micha? Szpak pipped her to win. I think this year will go back and forth in the odds.
Will be very strong year. Good luck to people betting LOL. Honestly, it was the same in Some people were saying it was due to a weak year, but I say it was the other way — it was supposed to be a very strong year with many contenders to win. It seems like might be just another rollercoaster year, yay! View this post on Instagram. Pin it. David Smith. View Post. Notify of.

Not want people to being killed every day in Russia and Belarus? Then FINE me big time. I like her song most of all. Thank you for your kind words Jean -Paul. I understand your meaning. Off cause I have my favorites, but I will never be negative about some songs or performers. Based on snippets Nina stand outs although that was 1 min of the song. If Nina not do not win, I have nothing against Albina represnt Croatia — just have to see how will looks and sounds live!
It looks like semi one will be a lot of uptempo songs, so a ballad would really stand out. Nina is the best choice. Most of the time early betting odds are based on fan polls and lets be honest. If Nina wins then that is great for her and I wish her the best of luck. I personally think Filip Rudan is a likely winner on Saturday. Honestly her song has the most potential out of all of them, it sounds unique and it could have great dramatic staging!
And we all know Nina can sing great live! So she should get the ticket in my opinion! The lyrics are beautiful as well! Nina sings great live?! Musicians are always training and improving. Pin it. Betting on Eurovision might feel like something of a lottery given so much depends on the quality of the performances on the night and how audiences respond to the songs. But there are certain trends it is important to note. Ireland has not won Eurovision for a while, but the country has the best performing record at ESC and usually ranks fairly well in the event. By contrast, it is many years since the UK even ranked in the top 10 and their entrant usually finishes right near the bottom of the final standings.
Scandinavian countries have an excellent record in recent years at ESC, while Russia is another country that has done very well in Eurovision over the last few competitions. Generally, songs that are performed in the English language outperform those in native languages, while the order of the show can have a big impact on the final standings as well.
On top of these Eurovision betting tips and strategies, it is always worth shopping around for the best possible odds, just as with any other bet. A couple of minutes of browsing prices can result in a big difference when it comes to the potential profit that is up for grabs. Many bookmakers and betting sites provide bonuses and promotions for the Eurovision Song Contest too. At the start of , the EBU announced that semi-finals would be added to the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time.
The reason for this was that there were more countries eligible to enter than before, which would push the running time of the competition to be too long. As a result, ESC became a two-day event with the semi-final followed by the final. But there was a further rethink a few years later, with even more countries wanting to take part in Eurovision. This meant there were two semi-final events for nations to join in order to qualify for the final.
Each of the semi-finals has 10 qualification spots up for grabs and voting is only completed by countries taking part in each of the semi-finals. Australia and Ukraine have managed to qualify from each of the semi-finals they have entered while Andorra are yet to manage to make it through the process to book a spot in the final.
At the Eurovision Song Contest, the semi-finals are set to take place on Tuesday and Thursday, with the final set to be held, as usual, on Saturday night — May 22, Each of the qualifying finalists will perform their songs in turn, after which the voting will open across the continent. Voting, for a lot of people, is one of the highlights of Eurovision. Each country has two sets of votes: one from the public and one from an expert jury.
The top 10 is divided up with 12 points going to their favourite, 10 to the second favourite, then from eight points all the way down to one. This system has been in place for the last few years. As more countries are added to the list of entrants, the potential number of points up for grabs has grown. Portugal, when they won the contest in , racked up points when Salvador Sobral won for his song Amar pelos dois. In the unlikely event of a draw on points, the tie-break sees the winner crowned on the most points that they won from the televote, rather than from the jury section of the voting process.
At the end of the voting, which can take some time, the winner receives a special trophy, conducts a short interview, and is then invited to close the show by performing the winning song. It is Eurovision tradition that the winning nation then hosts the event the following year, when the whole process, including predicting the victor and betting on the outcome, begins once more. Eurovision is a song content spanning the continent of Europe — though Australia has also taken part in recent years — which takes place in May each year.
It was founded by the European Broadcasting Union with each country submitting a wholly original song to be performed live to the world. Around million people a year are thought to watch the Eurovision Song Contest each year and a lot of those hold parties in order to mark the occasion.
Betting on Eurovision is also popular, with markets available in the weeks and months leading up to the event, as well as live betting markets for the night of the competition itself. Eurovision has been responsible for launching the careers of various artists.
ABBA, a pop group from Sweden, are arguably the top success story having gone on to sell about million albums and singles since their song Waterloo was crowned the winner back in However, it is Ireland that has won Eurovision more than any other country, recording seven victories in total, though the most recent of those wins came back in Israel has won Eurovision four times to date. Johnny Logan is the most successful songwriter in Eurovision history, having penned the winning entrants on three occasions: , and Eurovision traditionally takes place in late May each year.
The contest is held in the country that won the competition the previous year. This means that in it will take place in the Netherlands, which won back in — the event was postponed in due to COVID In addition, the week of Eurovision will include the two semi-finals, which are set to be held on Tuesday and Thursday ahead of the final taking place on Saturday night.
The Teatro Kursaal in Lugano, Switzerland, was the venue for the inaugural competition and there were 14 entrants in total, with each of the seven countries having two songs included.
